What are oats used for in cosmetics?

Oats are commonly used in cosmetics for added moisturisation, exfoliation and to calm irritated skin. They are a popular ingredient in cosmetics such as soap, body lotions, exfoliators, serums and face masks. Our oats come in the format of whole oats.

Oats are very gentle when used in cosmetic recipes, they are claimed to have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties which makes them suitable for itchy, dry and sensitive skin types.

Oats are often used in soap making as an added exfoliant and for decoration purposes. Some popular soap making recipes with oats include our cold process oatmeal and honey soap and hot process oatmeal soap. These recipes make some nourishing soap bars!

Oats can also be used to make oat milk for cosmetic formulations, they can be soaked in water, blended and strained to create the milk.
