What is passion flower seed oil?

Passion seed oil, also known as maracuja oil, is a carrier oil and is cold pressed from the seeds of the passion fruit plant (passiflora edulis).

Our pure maracuja oil is a refined oil and is light yellow to golden in colour with a neutral scent.

It is rich in essential fatty acids linoleic acid and oleic acid. Its high fatty acid content helps promote healthy hair and skin.

Passion fruit oil is a great natural moisturiser and is commonly used in skin care formulations like creams, body oils and moisturisers.

Maracuja oil is a non greasy, light oil that absorbs easily into the skin. The high content of fatty acids in passion fruit oil help promote healthy skin and provide nourishing benefits.

Because of its light texture, passionfruit oil can be used in many cosmetic formulations for all skin types. It has a low comedogenic rating of 1 and it will not clog pores. Passionfruit oil can be used on oily skin dry skin, sensitive skin and damaged skin.

How to make your own skin treatment with passionfruit seed oil

Ingredients

• 500g organic, unrefined shea butter 

• 500g organic, extra virgin coconut oil 

• 350ml passionfruit seed oil

• Essential oils (optional)

Method

1. Weigh the shea butter and coconut oil into a bowl.

2. Heat the solid oils in a Bain Marie or in a microwave until fully melted.

3. Once the oils are melted, add your passion seed oil.

4. Mix the oils and butters together and leave to cool in the fridge.

5. Once the mixture looks like it's starting to set, whisk for 5 to 10 minutes to create a whipped consistency.

6. Now your skin treatment is ready to use!

1. Weigh the castor oil, macadamia oil, passion seed oil and vitamin E oil.

2. Mix the carrier oils together until fully combined.

3. Pour the mixture into a bottle of your choice.
