What is french red clay?

French red clay is a red, brown clay with a velvety texture and was first found in the north of France. The clay is derived from the Hematite rock and gets its red colour from the copper oxides in the rock.

It is composed of the minerals Calcite, Illite, Kaolinite and Montmorillonite.

What is french red clay used for?

French red clay is often used in cosmetic products like face masks, soap and body scrubs. It is used in cosmetics as a natural colourant and to remove impurities from the skin.

Make a clay face mask with french red clay

Ingredients:

• Water 10g

• Honey 2g

• French red clay 15g

• Rosehip oil 2g 

Method:

1. Weigh the water and honey and mix together in a bowl.

2. Add the clay and rosehip oil and mix.

3. Once all of the ingredients are combined it is ready to use!
