What is zinc oxide powder?

Zinc oxide is cosmetic grade and is made up of oxidized zinc derived from naturally occurring mineral.

Our zinc oxide is non nano and is a dry, white powder. The powder is not water soluble so zinc oxide powder needs to be combined with a carrier agent.

What is zinc oxide powder used for?

Zinc oxide is found in a lot of mineral sunscreen products and skin protectants as it helps improve the skins natural protections against the sun and zinc oxide acts as a block against the sun's ultraviolet UV rays.

When used in sun protection products, zinc oxide sits on the top of the skin to create a barrier and reflect the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Zinc forms a protective barrier over the skin that keep the moisture locked in place, which helps oily substances seep into the skin.

Zinc oxide is also sometimes used in makeup to increase the opacity in products like foundations and powder-based makeup.

It is also said to be an anti irritant, which is why it is found in many skin products for infants. Zinc oxide can be used in cosmetics like lotions, sun creams, baby powder, mineral makeup, baby lotions and soap.
