How to Make a Blush

Natural blush recipe

Do you spend a fortune on commercial blushes? What if I said you can make it yourself with just 3 natural ingredients?

Not to mention the fact that you can create your own unique blush colour. So if you struggle to find that perfect blush colour to suit your skin tone, just make it yourself!

So let’s get started!

Why Make Your Own Blush?

It’s so easy to make, so much more affordable than commercial products and it’s customisable!

Blushes have gained popularity in the last few years, but with that they are becoming more and more expensive! So why spend so much money on commercial blushes, when you can make twice as much for a fraction of the price?

A DIY blush only needs 3 ingredients! It makes you think, why are commercial blushes full of so many chemicals?

And that’s not even the best part! Making your own powder blush means you get to create your own custom blush colour!

So how do you make a blush?

Simple Powder Blush Recipe

This natural powder blush recipe creates a pretty pink coloured blush, with a little bit of shimmer!

Arrowroot powder is very gentle on the skin and is suitable for all skin types. Argan oil is a really lightweight oil and is used in this recipe to slightly compact the ingredients together.

Mica powders are a naturally occurring mineral found in rocks. We have a wide selection of colours that are perfect for blushes!

The great thing about this recipe, is you can add less or more mica powder to create your desired color!

Ingredients:

Method:

Arrowroot powder and mica powder

1. Weigh the powders

  • Weigh the arrowroot powder and pink mica powder into a bowl.
  • Mix the powders together (if there are any lumps, you may need to sieve the powder)
Argan oil with powders

2. Add the argan oil

  • Weigh out the argan oil and pour it into the powder mixture.
  • Mix the oil and powder together until everything is fully combined. At this stage the oil will stick to clumps of powder, so make sure it is evenly mixed in.

3. Pour into a container

  • Pour the powder mixture into a container of your choice.
  • Carefully press the powder down so it is compact in the container and not a loose powder. You can use any flat ended item to press this down and it doesn’t need to be perfect!

TIPS: A little goes a long way! The Soapery team have tried and tested this DIY blush recipe and we love it, but it is very pigmented so apply it in small amounts!

If you want a loose powder, rather than a pressed powder, you can leave out the argan oil. Similarly, if you want it to be more compact you can add more argan oil. I would recommend adding a gram at a time to avoid adding too much oil!
