What is buriti oil?

Buriti oil is pressed from the fruit pulp of moriche palm tree. Our buriti oil is cold pressed, orange to red in colour and has a mild scent.

Buriti oil also known as aguaje fruit oil is native to South America. The tree grows in tropical and wet climates. Our buriti oil is sustainably produced as the the fruit of the buriti tree is foraged in its natural wild habitat.

Buriti oil is rich in essential fatty acids which help provide moisture and promote healthy skin. It also has a high natural concentration of beta carotene.

Buriti oil for skin

Buriti oil has great moisturising and nourishing properties for both skin and hair. It is often used in skincare products such as moisturisers and creams.

It exhibits excellent emollient properties that aid in rebuilding and rehydrating skin cells, as well as lightening dark spots and evening out the complexion.

When buriti oil is used in cold process soap making it adds to the conditioning effect of the bar, and also adds a little to the hardness and creaminess of the bar.

Buriti oil has a comedogenic rating of 2 which means it is likely to work well on all skin types, including dry skin, sensitive skin and mature skin.

Make your own skin treatment with buriti oil

Ingredients

• Organic shea butter 100g

• Buriti oil 50ml

• Jojoba oil 50ml

Method

1. Melt the shea butter in a microwave or in a bowl over hot water.

2. Mix the jojoba oil and buriti oil into the melted shea.

3. Once the mixture is fully combined, place in the fridge to cool.

4. When the mixture looks like it is starting to set, use a whisk to mix it.

5. It should form a light creamy consistency, similar to whipped cream.

6. Now your skin treatment is ready to use!

Buriti oil is used in hair care products such as hair treatments, hair masks and conditioners. It can improve hair texture, hydrate dry hair and protect hair from environmental damage. It also adds shine to lackluster hair.

Ingredients

• Castor oil 100ml

• Macadamia oil 100ml

• Buriti oil 100ml

• Vitamin E oil 5ml

Method

1. Measure out the castor oil, macadamia oil, buriti oil and vitamin E oil.

2. Mix all of the oils together in a bowl.

3. Pour the mixture into you chosen bottle and apply!
