What is carrot seed oil?

Our carrot oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the carrot plant. The carrier oil is dark red to brown in colour with an earthy, woody scent reminiscent of carrots.

Carrot seed oil is a carrier oil and is often confused with carrot essential oils as they are both extracted from the seed of the plant. However, carrot seed oil is cold pressed and can be used directly on the skin, whereas the essential oil is steam distilled and needs to be diluted in a carrier oil.

What is carrot seed oil used for?

Carrot oil is popular in skincare and haircare products like soap, shampoo, moisturisers, creams, conditioners and serums. It is suitable for most skin types including dry skin, mature skin and combination skin types.

The cold pressed oil has a high comedogenic rating of 3 to 4, meaning is will clog pores. Because of this, it is not best suited for acne prone skin or oily skin types.

Cold pressed carrot oil is rich in essential fatty acids, beta carotene and vitamins, like vitamin E and vitamin C. This nutrients in carrot oil is said to help protect the skin from sun damage and promote a healthy complexion.
