What is organic extra virgin olive oil?

Organic extra virgin olive oil is the oil that is cold pressed from organic olives at low temperatures, and without the use of solvents. Our pure olive oil is unrefined and is yellow to green in colour with a natural characteristic olive aroma.

The olive tree is an evergreen tree and is found in the Mediterranean region. Extra virgin olive oils have been used for centuries in cooking, religious practices, cosmetics and for its health benefits.

What is extra virgin olive oil used for?

Organic extra virgin olive oil is used in cosmetics like soap, creams, moisturisers, shampoos and skin treatments.

It has a low comedogenic rating of 2, meaning there is a low chance it will clog pores. It is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin, dry skin and combination skin types. However, it may not be suitable for acne prone skin types.

When olive oil is used in cold process soap making it creates a very conditioning soap bar. It also helps harden the bar and adds a small amount of creaminess.

Ingredients

• Organic shea butter 100g

• Organic extra virgin olive oil 50ml

• Jojoba oil 50ml

Method

1. Melt the organic shea butter in a microwave or over boiling water.

2. Once fully melted, pour the jojoba oil and olive oil into the melted shea.

3. Mix together until fully combined and leave to cool in the fridge.

4. When the mixture has started to set, whisk for 5 - 10 minutes until it reaches creamy consistency.

5. Once the mixture looks light and fluffy, it is ready to use!
