What is pracaxi oil?

Pracaxi oil is pressed from the seeds of the pentaclethra macroloba tree. It is a medium sized tree native to the Amazon rainforest.

Our pracaxi oil is cold pressed, brown to golden in colour with a mild nutty aroma. 100% pure pracaxi oil solidifies in cool temperatures. The oil is cream to light brown in colour when solid.

It is commonly referred to as 'miracle oil' because of its many benefits for the skin and hair. It contains a high amount of fatty acids which gives it great moisturising properties.

Traditionally, pracaxi oil was commonly used to treat stretch marks. It was also used to combat the effects of poison from snake and scorpion bites.

Pracaxi oil for skin

Pracaxi oil can be used to make your own creams, body butters, moisturisers, lotions and skin treatments.

It is used in many skin care products as it is said to, improve skin tone, reduce skin irritation and regenerate damaged skin.

Pracaxi oil is most suitable for dry skin, damaged skin and sensitive skin types. It has a comedogenic rating of 3, so we recommend carrying out a patch test if using on blemish prone skin.

When pracaxi oil is used in cold process soap making it creates a very conditioning soap bar. It also adds a small amount of hardness and creaminess. 

Make your own skin treatment with pracaxi oil

Ingredients

• Organic shea butter 100g

• Pracaxi oil 50ml

• Jojoba oil 50ml

Method

1. Weigh out the shea butter and melt.

2. Measure the jojoba oil and pracaxi oil.

3. Add the oils to the melted shea and mix.

4. Once fully combined, place in the fridge to cool.

5. When the mixture looks like it is starting to set, use a whisk to mix it.

6. It should form a whipped cream consistency.

7. Now your skin treatment is ready to use!

Pracaxi oil for hair

Pracaxi oil is used in hair products such as hair conditioner, shampoo, hair masks and hair treatments. It is a great oil for any hair type, specifically dry or damaged hair.

Due to its high fatty acid content, pracaxi oil is able to deeply condition hair and improve hair health. It is often said to help prevent hair loss, however there are no scientific studies to back this.

Make your own hair care treatment with pracaxi oil

Ingredients

• Castor oil 100ml

• Macadamia oil 100ml

• Pracaxi oil 100ml

• Vitamin E oil 5ml

Method

1. Measure out the castor oil, macadamia oil, pracaxi oil and vitamin E oil.

2. Mix all of the oils together in a bowl.

3. Pour the mixture into you chosen bottle and apply!
