What is rice bran wax?

Rice bran wax is a by product of rice bran oil production. It is a crystalline vegetable wax obtained from rice husks. The wax is pale yellow in colour with a natural odour.

It has a relatively high melting point of 77 - 82°C, similar to carnauba wax. Rice bran wax is often used as an alternative to carnauba wax because of their similar melting points and durability.

Rice bran wax is used in cosmetics as a thickener, binder, and gelling agent. Rice bran wax naturally acts as an emollient and helps moisturize the skin and prevent moisture evaporation.
