What is safflower seed oil?

Safflower oil is the oil extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant. Our safflower oil is from Australia and it is golden in colour with a neutral scent.

Safflower oil is very high in linoleic acid and is often used in baby products due to its gentle effect on irritated or sensitive skin. It is also effective in a hair treatment to reduce itching.

Safflower oil for skin

Safflower oil is very moisturising and helps to improve overall skin health. It is suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. It has a comedogenic rating of 0 meaning it won't clog pores and can be used on acne prone skin and oily skin types.

It is often used in skincare products like moisturisers, skin treatments and creams.

Make your own skin treatment

Ingredients

• Organic shea butter 100g
• Safflower oil 50ml
• Jojoba oil 50ml

Method

1. Melt the shea butter in a microwave or in a bowl over hot water.
2. Mix the jojoba oil and safflower oil into the melted shea.
3. Once the mixture is fully combined, place in the fridge to cool.
4. When the mixture looks like it is starting to set, use a whisk to mix it.
5. It should form a light creamy consistency, similar to whipped cream.
6. Now your skin treatment is ready to use!

Safflower seed oil improves hair health as it hydrates, moisturises and strengthens hair. It can be used in shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and hair treatments.

• Castor oil 100ml
• Macadamia oil 100ml
• Safflower oil 100ml
• Vitamin E oil 5ml

Method

1. Measure out the castor oil, macadamia oil, safflower oil and vitamin E oil.
2. Mix all of the oils together in a bowl.
3. Pour the mixture into you chosen bottle and apply!
