What is Camellia Oil?

Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil, is the oil pressed from the seeds of the Camellia Oleifera plant. Our camellia seed oil is cold pressed, 100% pure, and contains no other ingredients.

Camellia oil is also commonly spelled Camillia Oil, or also Camelia Oil. However, Camellia is the correct spelling.

Camellia oil is light yellow in colour with a neutral aroma and is well suited to many skin and hair recipes.

Camellia oil contains high amounts of oleic acid, with small amounts of palmitic and linoleic fatty acids.

Camellia Oil for Skin

Camellia oil is a great moisturizer for the skin due to the high amount of fatty acids. The fatty acids help hydrate the skin as it reduces water loss, leaving the skin feeling nourished and soft.

A 2006 study shows that camellia oil has high amounts of antioxidants.  Antioxidants are great for protecting the skin from UV damage and to neutralize free radicals that cause damage to the skin.

When camellia oil is used in cold process soap making it contributes to the conditioning effect of the soap, and adds a little hardness to the bar.
